.Beautiful Disaster.

Got up real late today at 1:22pm. Still having stupid running noise n sore throat. Damn it...

Anyways, watched the last 30 mins of Oprah and they talked about how there's this small community in the states (situated in Colorado city, Arizona)where young girls as young as 14 are being forced into marrying husbands mostly twice or thrice their age, and who(hear this)already have several wifes n children.They are governed by a religious sect who justify such actions of incest n child molestation, as well as polygamy(means marrying multiple wives)by religion. Something about keeping the blood line pure or something...They were abt 4 women in the show who actually came n shared their experiences abt how they escaped n found their independence...

...Wow...It blew me away...not in a positive way mind you... like i was utterly disgusted THIS is happening in AMERICA??? It sounds so sick n perverted women are being made to believe their sole purpose in life is to serve their husband n bear as much children as possible in their entire lifespan...From young this is ingrained in them....SICK...And one woman was forced to marry her own cousin n bear 2 of his children...And cases of child deformities coz of such distant marriages are a taboo subject. They're not discussed. One father even married his eldest daughter as his 4th wife...Sick...Polygamy? I think its a total insult to women's rights.

I mean like this is exactly the reason why i'm not a very religious person. I'm born a Roman Catholic and yup there are things Christianity preaches that are worth learning. I agree every kind of religion preaches certain good moral values tt we should emulate.And e lessons they teach can inspire us to find inner strength n peace in ourselves.... n elevate our beings...But thats exactly e problem...Religion can stir very strong inner emotions, n ppl relate to it really well cos they were born to a certain religion since young, n practices n beliefs r ingrained into them. And so ppl sometimes follow blindly their religious practices n beliefs w/o THINKING.Its a case of religious feelings over the mind. The truth tt everyone has to understand is tt certain religious teachings r really very wrong... n just has to change according to modernisation.

Like there r religions tt encourage polygamy, the inferior social standing of women, encourages barbaric punishments n inhumane treatment of animals etc etc.... I mean surely we have more sense to let religion overrride wat we truly believe is correct? Religion is such a divisive force to humankind. It is the e reason why countless wars have been fought, n why atrocities like the Oprah story above has happened, n of course part of the justification why women r treated the why they r in certain places.

Well of course some ppl might beg to differ... But i still think religion can really psycho ppl into doing things just unbelievable...Just unbelievable...
