Pissed at Singaporeans...

I am so freakin pissed Jeassea Thyidoor got voted out of Singapore Idol. Like what the hell happened??? And worse still, out of the final 9, almost 5 are bad singers.

I am so not gonna catch another freakin episode of that lame show. Not only is it anti-climatic and very unentertaining, it showcases the worse sides of Singaporeans.
Go question: Why is it that S'pore suffers from such a lack of talent?

Because....

-Singaporeans have a problem identifying talent in the first place! Hence they cannot compete internationally and win most of the time. They lack the taste to appreciate quality. Period. Jeassea's singing is beyond them. They prefer crooners like Jerry and beauty queens like Sandy Chua and Jamie Teo. *cringe*

And to add to that,it is important to know also:

-Its not that the pool of talent to tap into in S'pore is too small. I don't believe there exists a significant correlation between the number of ppl a country has and the number of talent in it. If there is, Africa would be a more talented continent than America. (But then again this would depend on how u define talent.) Rather it is the inability to recognize, appreciate and harness this talent, or to improve it. S'pore needs to support and encourage budding potentials.

-However, in here, it is embedded in our culture that we are supposed to go to school, do well then strive hard in life, or suffer the consequences of not doin so. We are different from China who churns out so many Olympic winners simply cos thousands of poor village children there practice table-tennis/gymnastics etc from young when they cannot afford to go to school. Hence, it is their only hope in life to gain success from. Neither are we like Americans, who have a unique 'never say die' attitude, a belief in picking themselves up from scratch when they lose everything one day, and an appreciation for expressing their individualities. The only 'good' thing abt us is that we're competitive n are scared to lose out. And this trait makes Singaporeans wonder the question in bold above.

Go figure.

Sigh...Enough yakking. I gotta go study for my econs test tomorrow.

Yeah, this is Singapore still.
