I wanna be a Yippie!

Exams are just around the corner and i've barely started on revision. Great, i'm gonna screw up first sem. Didn't even get to sleep last night cos i had to complete my AS response essay assignment...Freaking 1500 words!??! And before i could do that i had to read read read to get ideas into the almost dysfunctional brain. Mind you the reading alone can take up to 4 days... *pengz*

And i really~ should have been more consistent with my readings (sets this new year resolution no. 1 for 2005), and i wouldn't find myself in a predicament right now....

Barely 18 days away from the first paper (eeks!) and i haven't even touched on my lit 1000w assignment due on Friday. Why? Cos i haven't finish reading my final lit text for the module~ If i could have just one wish granted to me this moment, i want the ability to speed-read...

Had my final AS and literature tutorial today but i didn't go for the latter. Mr. Bernard Turner said he was gonna give us a pop-quiz, and i couldn't possibly sit in w/o finishing the last book. So i skipped it...tsk tsk...for the very first time. :p But AS tutorial i went and it was interesting. Learnt about the Yippie generation in America. Basically this is the generation of Americans born during the baby boom period, right after WW2. They had all the privileges of being middle incomed, materialistic(consumer goods flourished then) and they were the ones who brought about the great cultural revolt.

Yeah. The great cultural revolt was the period when teenagers of the baby boom gen struggled for self-independence, revolted against their parents and questioned their right to take drugs and have promiscious sex. There were numerous University student movements. In fact in one campus protest(University of Columbia) against the building of a gymnasium in the vicinity of an African American neighbourhood, student radicals occupied the admin building and seized the dean of the college, eating pizzas and leaving a mess out of the whole place afterwards.

Imagine That happening in S'pore. Not in a million billion zillion years i guess.

But i think its so cool to revolt(eeps!). You fight for what u believe in, you challenge restrictions. You chart your own path, your own destiny. You get involved with the future of your country.

But here, we'd rather follow wats expected of us. Restraints and more restraints...

Sigh*

*digressed*

Alright, I gotta go start on my econs tutorial, or else i'm never gonna get sleep tonight again!

Ciao! :)

Oh ya, in case i'm too busy to blog anytime in the near future...Here's wishing all of u peeps out there: Advance Happy Deepavali! *heh* and Best of luck for the Upcoming Exams!!!
